The challenge
Spicer's Gap Road in the Main Range National Park suffered flood and rain damage during recent rainfall events.
The road was originally constructed in 1847 with major work undertaken in the 1960s and was the major transport route from the Southern Downs to Ipswich.
A lack of maintenance combined with heavy rainfall events have caused large potholes in the road and for water to pond on the surface.
Our solution
Proterra Group provided recommendations to DES for immediate restoration works outlining drainage improvements and road surface improvements, as well as requirements for future maintenance.
The benefit
A simple solution was provided to DES which will work with their limited maintenance budget to prolong the life of the road.
The result
The simple solution meant DES were able to improve the surface of the road quickly and have a guide for regular maintenance.
