The challenge
Due to unprecedented flooding and the sheer size of Western Downs Regional Council's road network (equated to the size of Tasmania), Council required additional resources not only to undertake road inspections but also to prepare and submit the QRA submission on behalf of Council.
Our solution
Proterra Group were engaged by Council to undertake a hold of road network flood damage assessment over three successive flood events from November 2021 to May 2022. This work involved driving 10,200 km of road network within the Western Downs Region multiple times. Proterra Group project team consisted of a Project Manager, a Submissions Administrator and three Road Inspectors. These personnel lived and worked within the region and during the 9 months of inspections contributed approximately $109,000 to suppliers within the region.
The benefit
As a local Contractor, Proterra Group was able to mobilise quickly to the area and commence inspections within a week. This project team have a high level of experience within all aspects of this project including damage identification, recovery of software, MARs, QRA submissions and betterment funding.
The result
Proterra Group successfully submitted the largest MARs submission in QRA history with a total value of $175M. The approval rate of this submission is currently sitting at 94% with additional sites identified for Betterment Funding Applications.
