Since 2012 Proterra Group have been working with Quilpie Shire Council delivering any Flood Restoration events as they’ve occurred under a LocalBuy Arrangement.
This has been an effective partnership for both parties and has ensured that all works delivered under the approved programs were completed using locally based contractors, who are often local landholders who are able to take advantage of road works during busy periods.
It’s a win-win for the Shire and the community.
After recently completing the 2020 Program, Proterra Group is now supervising composite crews of Council staff and contractors to deliver the program of works that have occurred due to flooding and rain events in April 2021.
We currently have a Project Manager, two Site Supervisors, a Works Assistant and Administration Officer working and living onsite in Quilpie.
Whilst onsite Proterra Group staff also assist in other Council projects including RMPC and TMR Project works.

Since 2011, we have worked within the Quilpie region with our focus to provide Council with support with their flood recovery works from damage identification, funding submission development, and project management.
At Proterra Group, we know how critical strong local businesses are for small, regional, and remote communities. That’s why we focus on buying local and spending our money in your town whenever we can. Our approach is three pronged and includes:
• Living locally and sourcing personnel, goods, and services from the region,
• Providing financial support and in-kind donations to community organisations, promoting the region through our social media, and attending events and
• Working with local suppliers by providing tender opportunities, suitably sized work packages and mentoring.
Within the Quilpie region, we currently employ 5 full time equivalent personnel, injecting $241,000 worth of wages into the region during the 21/22 financial year alone.
This money goes into the hands of your grocery stores, butchers, cafes, pubs, and many more local businesses.
During the 21/22 financial year, we spent approximately $230,481 with Quilpie suppliers.

Whether it’s donating to the St Finbarr’s School Mystery Holiday Draw or sponsoring the local Gymkhana event, we take great pride in investing in regional communities and their events.
