Proterra Group was awarded the Charleville Landfill Operation Services contract in late 2022. The scope of work includes Landfill Upgrade Services, Facility Supervision and Landfill Operation Services.

The Charleville Landfill is the principal waste facility for Council and is the only landfill for the Shire Currently the site is spread over 20 hectares with large stockpiles of waste covering the site. Infrastructure on site is limited to site buildings including the gatehouse and amenities block and site fencing. There are stockpiles of recyclables and two landfill cells for commercial and domestic solid waste.

The site accepts a range of waste including general waste, green waste, construction and demolition waste, recyclables, waste oil, whitegoods, lead acid batteries, gas bottles, scrap metal waste, garden waste, concrete waste, timber waste, quarantine waste, insurance and police burns, asbestos, and dead animal burial.

The scope of our daily operations at the Charleville Landfill include:

· Supervision all customers entering the site.
· Supervision of the reception, storage, and removal of waste.
· Monitor compliance with the waste acceptance criteria at the specific disposal points within the site.
· Manage any emergencies or incidents that occur.
· Maintain the facility to an acceptable environmental standard; and
· Operate plant and equipment at the site to handle waste disposal and covering.

Whilst our Waste Team are conducting the Facility Supervision and Landfill Operation, our Civil Engineering team are working on the Landfill Upgrade project. The initial scope of this project includes providing a design for the Waste Transfer Facility and Landfill Upgrade.
